Not capturing the email addresses of visitors to their blogs or websites. Without a list New Affiliates are actually limiting their marketing campaign. Remember a lot of visitors do not buy right away and they might visit a few times before they actually decide to buy anything. It is very impotant that affiliates be able to build a relationship and market or sell to these visitors over and over again.

 
Not having a blog or website. Some affiliates join affiliate marketing programs with the intent of earning commissions right away without even having a proper website or a blog with valuable and informative information.
 
Underestimatimating the power of Blogging and hence failing to benefit from such an effective marketing tool.
 
Foccusing too much of their efforts on selling instead of sharing, helping and educating.
 
Having no passion, interest or knowledge in the products or services they are promoting or selling.
 
Not properly optimizing their websites. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is often underrated by many new affiliates and they fail to pay attention to Keywords, Title and Meta Tags, Links, Content etc.
 

Failing to stay focussed or concentrate on a particular niche but instead jumping from one idea to another or from one product to another. Be patient, Find a few products and focus your time and effort in doing the best job of promoting them. The more focussed you are the more you will increase your chances of success.
 
Promoting products or services that are irrelevant to the content on their sites.
 
Trying to sell too many products on their websites. It can be very confusing and a huge turnoff  to visitors  if your website is filled with too many affiliate links promoting different affiliate programs.

Not updating the content on their sites. New fresh content means new visitors and will keep your other visitors coming back for more. Also Search Engines love fresh new content.

Focussing on one or two marketing methods. New Affiiates should try to use a wide range marketing methods in trying to stay diversified and reach as wide a target audience as possible.
